Do you believe that Democrats in Congress not only on energy and offshore drilling?

They could have forced the Republicans (including John McCain) to either accept the compromise, limiting offshore drilling and financing of renewable energy, or show that is the only energy source, they care about the oil. The Democrats have not really stood up to something in relation Bush in office, so I do not think it's really amazing that they have let this slide by. Also, it was left up to individual states, which means that California would be the moratorium, if he so wishes, and it is likely the largest "to keep price" may in offshore drilling. So I think they can meet the "Drill Baby Drill" appear set by drilling, have changed as little as in reality. I also believe offshore drilling is much safer, more environmentally friendly than it used to anyway, so it's less of a Problem. What bothers me most is that it makes people think that the U.S. energy independent again, or lower, essentially, the price of gasoline, none of which will come close to doing.
