Is there a Solar Electric (PV) systems consume more energy to produce than it produced in its lifetime?

I had several conversations on blogs about what is seen Engergy net profit (or loss) of solar systems. Some people claim that there is a net energy loss, but I think a hard time that to be true. Can someone respond with either a credible source, or facts that a backup copy of their response? I did a lot of searching and found very little to help me clarify this issue. And please do not confuse financial information in this discussion, I am only interested in the network of solar ENERGY (Photovoltaic) systems.

It is not easy to answer. There are different technologies and many differnent work environments and the utilization. High-spec NASA pannels, Cleanroom semiconductors, redundancy and non-destructive testing. and a short life hostile produce little usable power - perhaps the case will not be made a net loss of energy. organic (dye), despite its lower efficiency photovoltaics, are much easier to mass produce, so that less net energy and should be in normal use plenty of Life, gain a positive energy to give. Unfortunately, still very much on the stage show, so no easy summaries
