would be nice to have a cheap solar setup that could run your stove, dryer, A/C etc…. for a couple of weeks before recharging.

Yeah thanks for that.

It all depends on the wattage of the panel.
like my panels all together are 45 watts.
So it will run an appliance that is 45 watts.
They only work in sunny places….maybe you should think about a wind generator if you have no sun. Thanks for the comment!!!!!!!

London, I live in London and we have NO sun… how is this possible.. I want to ask you a question.. Does this produce free electricity in hot countries.. Like in Africa or something.. How many houses per panel?

Man that was funny!
Next time you are on you tube type in “infinite solutions” you will love the video how he charges batteries and the tire on the van video.

hhmm how about hooking up the solar panel to ur electricity in your house? this way you are using the cities batteries? If you are consuming 0 electricity, your electrometer should start spinning backwards. When you want to use something the electrometer might spin forward but then again when you are done using it it will spin backwards. so the end result is solar electricity

is hooking a solar panel up to a battery the only way to get electricity into your house?
March 15th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
That is a great idea.
I would like to come over & check out your system you built. You must have some very cool stuff built right??????

By my math your now paying (with that system) 10 cents per KW more then current utility rate. This is NOT counting replacement of battery as often as once per year (not to mention the carbon deficit of making Lead Acid Batteries) but being generous I figured you might get 5 years out of the battery. Better to use solar and wind energy to produce hydrogen and store it compressed. Then burn the Hydrogen to power a generator AND provide residual heat. IMHO

I would love to be able to ınstall a cheap solar power system, but I think as your video shows they are still not cheap. I think you said you run two 5w lamps for $250. Is that really economic especially as you have not factored in the replacement cost of the batteries at some point. Well done for cutting down on your bills and CO2 production but I feel it is just tokenism (mainly because the producers of the solar kit wont bring down thier prices to realistic levels).

lalli 1987 was right!, you dont even know what the meaning of DIY!!!,…

$250 is about as cheap as you can possibly go with solar panels, power charge controller, lights and wires.
Check prices on EBAY. You might want to be sitting down & holding on to something.

Excuse me, but do you know what DIY videos are supposed to be? They supposed to show us how to build or make a thing like that. You just show us the complete thing. And you call 250 $ cheap?
